Business Glossaries are available as an add-on Asset Collection Type with the Vocabulary Management and Reference Data Management packages. Business Glossaries are also included as one of the Asset Collection Types in the Metadata Management package, and as a simple, starting package by itself.

Data governance today has to address all of the ever increasing types of data and the diverse contexts in which it is created and used. A key design goal for TopBraid EDG is to support the full diversity of data governance needs. Though it comes with hundreds of built-in data asset types, the “Data Graphs” add-on module provides additional flexibility and capability to support this diversity. It consists of two capabilities:

1. Users can create Graphs containing any information – based on ontologies of their choice.

These types of collections are called Data Graphs and require no application development to start using them. The only requirement is to have an Ontology in EDG that defines schema for the graph.

2. Power Users and Developers can define new types of Asset Collections.

For example, you may choose to create a “Master Data” collection type or “Infrastructure Assets” collection type. Some application development may be required to creating new features for the new collection types. New collection types are expected to be “backed by” and associated with some ontology.
